Winter active –
sporty through the snow.

Winter enjoyment at 1.350 meters.

Ski in & Ski out knows every child – staying overnight in the middle of the Kellerjoch ski area, just 2.minute walk away, makes it possible. Also non-skiers will love it here. At 1.350 meters – winter sport fun waits for you.

Ski area with probably Tyrol's most beautiful panorama

Enjoy a relaxing day’s skiing and choose the family or sports slope in the Kellerjoch ski area, depending on your ability.

Tobogganing

“Let’s go!” – the command spurs all the tobogganers on and everyone pushes to the best of their ability. Put your feet up and lean backwards – with these little tricks, you will quickly become faster. To take the bends, brake briefly with both legs, then shift all your weight to the inside of the bend and push against the toboggan with your outside foot. So it’s downhill through the snow-covered forest with a lot of cheering. But nobody really wants to be first, because most important is fun.

Info.

The longest toboggan run of North Tyrol.

A toboggan run with friends is definitely a highlight of a winter vacation in the Karwendel Silver Region. The large selection of toboggan runs alone ensures this. In addition to runs for all abilities and speeds, a special highlight awaits tobogganing fans:
The longest toboggan run in Tyrol – and the second longest in Austria! – can be found high above the silver town of Schwaz since 2017. From the Hecherhaus on the Kellerjoch, the mountain station of the local ski area at 1,887 m above sea level, you can toboggan nine kilometers down into the valley to the medieval Freundsberg Castle. The new facility – not only top in terms of preparation and snow safety – has already been awarded the Tyrolean natural toboggan run seal of approval.

A winter vacation without a proper toboggan run is only half the fun. Some toboggan runs can only be reached on foot (trudging through the snow-covered winter forest is an experience in itself!), while some toboggan runs are served by a toboggan bus or a lift.

Ice skating.

The ice skating rinks in the Silberregion not only score points with their perfectly groomed ice. The panoramic view from every single rink is indescribable! You will find our ice rinks in the middle of the snow-covered winter wonderland. In addition to the ice rink in Schwaz, there are two more, the ice rink in Jenbach and the ice rink in Vomp. The magnificent backdrop of the Alps and the fresh air is a pure winter experience.

Cross-country skiing.

For cross-country skiers, there are cross-country ski trails in the valley and on the mountains in the Karwendel Silver Region. Five high-altitude trails with unforgettable views of nature are groomed in winter. The high-altitude trails impress with their varied routes and wonderful location. You have a beautiful view of the valley from every single trail. Opposite you can see the mountain panorama of the Tux Alps or the Karwendel. Particularly impressive is the cross-country ski trail (30 km) from Hinterriss to Eng in the Karwendel Alpine Park, which has been awarded the cross-country ski trail seal of approval. Enjoy the tranquillity of the wintry Risstal valley. You will be surprised how beautiful nature is in winter.

Snowshoe Tours

The Silver Region is ideal for fantastic and romantic snowshoe hikes.

Guided tours.

Our weekly winter program of the Silberregion Karwendel includes, among other things, guided snowshoe tours in our Region. Just the right thing for all those who want to try snowshoes for the first time.

Ski tours.

Similar to snowshoeing, ski touring is experiencing rapid growth. More and more winter lovers want to let off steam in the great outdoors in winter. Walking uphill on skis is just the thing for them. First you exert yourself uphill, then you enjoy the wonderful view of the snow-covered mountains at the top – and then: the descent away from the hustle and bustle of the ski lift.

Night ski tour.

Every Thursday we start at 19.00 for the night ski tour to the Hecher. The ascent is approx. 550 meters in altitude, moderately strenuous and takes approx. 1.5 hours. An experienced ski guide accompanies you on your first or already practiced steps to the Hecherhaus. After a stop for refreshments, you ski back down to the hotels by moonlight or LED light.

Attention: minimum number of participants 3, maximum 5 persons.

Registrations by Wednesday evening at the Kellerjoch ski school office or on +43 5242/623 29 32

Enjoy winter moments twice over, because the body releases the happiness hormones after the strenuous ascent. More and more ski tourers are also out and about on the ski slopes themselves. This development is particularly evident on the Kellerjoch in the Karwendel silver region. The landlord of the Hecherhaus has adapted to this: Once a week, it is open longer, especially in the evenings, for a hearty stop-off.

Experienced ski tourers climb the Gilfert, one of the most popular ski touring mountains in Tyrol. The descents through the powder snow are legendary.
